A woman in her 30s was found dead in a hotel room in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, on 19 October. According to prefectural police, as carried by Livedoor News and Tokyo Shimbun (Kyodo), a hotel employee called 119 at about 8:05 a.m. saying a woman was unconscious. The guest was lying in bed bleeding, and her death was confirmed at the scene. [ 1 , 3 ]

Police arrested a Taiwanese suspect the same day on suspicion of violating the firearms and swords law by carrying one blade at the hotel. Livedoor and Tokyo Shimbun named the suspect as Yan Min Han (ヤン・ミン・ハン), 27, with occupation unknown. Yomiuri Shimbun described the suspect as a woman and said the blade was about 12 cm long. It said a woman holding a knife with a blade of about 12 cm was in the room when the body was found, and that police believe she knows how the woman died. TBS News Dig reported that the dead woman was on a tour and did not appear at the assembly time, so an employee checked her room and found her. [ 7 , 10 ]

Livedoor and Tokyo Shimbun said the hotel is in an area of lodging facilities about 2 km north of Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyu line, near Fuji-Q Highland. Yomiuri put it about 2 km northeast of the station. [ 1 , 3 , 5 ]
