The Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026 opened at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, where it runs from 20 to 22 October under the theme 'To Sense is to Predict'. It is organised by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and Future Health – A Global Initiative by Abu Dhabi, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. [ 3 , 5 , 8 ]
In a preview published the day before, WAM said the summit brings together leaders across healthcare, science, technology, policy and investment to explore how health systems can predict risk and intervene before illness progresses. Listed speakers included Sir Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca, and Max Jaderberg, President of Isomorphic Labs, who was to give a keynote on AI in Drug Discovery on the opening day. [ 1 ]
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in his keynote that 4.6 billion people, half of humanity, still lack access to essential health services and that global funding for health is under pressure. He said: "The question before us is not whether innovation works, but whether we can deliver at a scale to everyone and above." Gulf News also reported that Future Health released a whitepaper on how wearable technologies could support more preventive, personalised and continuous models of care. [ 2 ]
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, attended the opening, accompanied by Sheikh Shakhboot. He emphasised building a healthcare ecosystem centred on prevention, anticipation and high resilience. On a tour of the exhibition he viewed technologies shown by more than 175 healthcare entities across areas including artificial intelligence, genomics and digital health. [ 5 ]
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a delegation of participants that included global health leaders and experts. He said health is a top priority for the UAE and noted the country's commitment to increasing investment in the health sector to build a sustainable healthcare system. He also said the summit provides an important global platform for dialogue and the exchange of expertise. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and a number of ministers and senior officials attended the meeting. [ 6 , 8 ]
