Yuhan-Yanghang (유한양행) said on 20 October that it had published 'Yuhan-Yanghang 100-Year History' in its 100th anniversary year. The company was founded in 1926 by the late Dr Yu Il-han (유일한). The book has three volumes: a general history, an R&D history and a commemorative photo book. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ]

The general history is divided into 10 chapters, from 'Birth of the national enterprise Yuhan-Yanghang' to 'Toward a global pharmaceutical company centred on R&D', and tells 100 stories centred on major events. Chosun Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily said it covers the early supply of essential medicines, the first public offering in the pharmaceutical industry, the establishment of professional management and the return of profits to society. Seoul Economic Daily described this as a history of changes in governance and ethical management. [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]

The R&D history records the company's research results, product development process and their meaning. Newsis reported that it is based on Dr Yu's founding spirit of making the best products to help the nation and compatriots. The volume gives particular attention to lazertinib, a non-small cell lung cancer drug developed through open innovation and sold in Korea as Rekraza (렉라자). [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]

Chosun Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily said lazertinib received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as the first domestically developed anticancer drug to do so, and has entered Europe and other global markets. Chosun Ilbo said it is sold in the United States as Lazcluze (라즈클루즈); Seoul Economic Daily gave Lazcluze as its overseas product name. [ 3 , 4 ]

The R&D history also covers next-generation immuno-oncology drugs, metabolic disease treatments and the expansion of the company's global active pharmaceutical ingredient CDMO business, which the outlets described as future growth areas. [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]

The photo book records projects carried out for the anniversary with photographs. These include a campaign to collect historical materials, the production of a webtoon and a documentary, and the opening ceremony of Willow House. Newsis also listed the announcement of an emblem and slogan, while Chosun Ilbo and Seoul Economic Daily listed commemorative product launches and writing and drawing contests. The company plans to distribute the book to major public and university libraries. [ 2 , 3 , 4 ]

A Yuhan-Yanghang official said, as quoted by Newsis, that the company will build a new century of promise to contribute to human health on the trust of the past 100 years with the people. [ 2 ]
